More Is Confirmed Than You Think
With no gameplay trailer yet, it is easy to assume we know almost nothing about how GTA 6 actually plays. But retail listings from KaBuM! in Brazil, MediaMarkt in Europe, and details embedded in Rockstar's own official materials have quietly confirmed an enormous amount of gameplay information. Here is every confirmed mechanic in one place.
Weapons and Combat
The weapon wheel has been redesigned and now allows switching between weapons, gear, and equipment using R1 on PlayStation and RB on Xbox. Players can carry only two rifles and two pistols at a time — similar to Red Dead Redemption 2's weight-based system — while additional weapons are stored in vehicle trunks. Dual wielding from RDR2 does not return. Ammo types confirmed include pistol, shotgun, heavy, rocket, and spear ammunition. Expanded drive-by mechanics allow shooting from car windows, truck beds, and even while swimming. New stealth mechanics include crouching, though the prone position seen in the 2022 development leaks has been removed from the final build. Players can tie up NPCs with zip ties, use hostages as human shields, and carry or loot bodies. The six-star wanted level system returns from previous GTA games.
Vehicles and Driving
Both third-person and first-person driving views are available with fully detailed interiors featuring working speedometers, interactive pedals, adjustable steering wheels, and functioning rearview mirrors. Real-time car mirrors display accurate reflections. A public tram system exists in Vice City that players can seamlessly enter and ride. An Immobilizer Bypass item has been confirmed, suggesting a new mini-game mechanic for stealing luxury vehicles. Deep vehicle customization includes donk stylings, detailed interior modifications, and multiple in-game mod shops each offering different specializations.
NPCs and World Simulation
NPCs follow daily routines — going to work, returning home, and changing behaviour based on time of day. The in-game social network system allows NPCs to record and post videos in real time. A confirmed 1,300-plus random world events are embedded throughout Leonida. NPCs react if players walk around with weapons drawn, causing Jason or Lucia to automatically conceal the weapon in populated areas. Police AI has been significantly upgraded with delayed response times, options to surrender, and more realistic shootout behaviour.
Story and Character Systems
The chapter-based story structure confirmed for GTA 6 mirrors Red Dead Redemption 2. Real-time protagonist switching between Jason and Lucia is available in both open world and missions. Duo missions with both characters together are confirmed. An in-game smartphone with social media access, influencer following, and viral video discovery is confirmed. Equipment items confirmed include binoculars, body armour, flashlight, food and drink, duffel bags, and trauma kits. A shared inventory system between protagonists is suggested by items marked as "Shared" in the product listing.
What This Means for Indian GTA Fans
This list of confirmed features is already more substantial than some complete games. The combination of upgraded NPC routines, real-time social media systems, redesigned weapons, and the chapter-based story structure suggests GTA 6 is not just a visual upgrade from GTA 5 — it is a systemic overhaul of almost every major gameplay mechanic. For Indian players who have spent years with GTA 5 and GTA Online, virtually everything about how GTA 6 plays is going to feel meaningfully different and more detailed. November 19 is going to feel like arriving in a completely new city.
My Take
Reading through this complete list of confirmed features, the thing that strikes me most is how many of them are about consequences and social simulation rather than raw power fantasies. Zip-tying NPCs, NPCs filming and posting your actions online, police that react with delayed realism rather than instant omniscience, NPCs hiding your weapon automatically in crowds — all of these systems point toward a GTA 6 that wants you to feel genuinely embedded in Vice City rather than just passing through it causing chaos. That is a more ambitious design philosophy than any previous GTA, and it is why the wait has taken 13 years.
